Dattatreya takes part in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The South Central Railway undertook a massive “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” all over its network on Friday on the occasion of birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.

Hyderabad: The South Central Railway undertook a massive “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” all over its network on Friday on the occasion of birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The programme marked the continuation of the “Mission Cleanliness-Swachh Rail-Swachh Bharat,” launched by the Indian Railways exactly on the same day last year.

Union Minister of State for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya led the programme at Secunderabad Railway Station, while BJP MLA G Kishan Reddy took part in the programme at Kacheguda Railway Station. P K Saxena, General Manager, South Central Railway. Umesh Singh, Additional General Manager, SCR and other senior railway officials were present.

The “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” programme at Secunderabad Railway Station was marked by paying of floral tributes to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi by Dattatreya and BJP MLC N Ramchander Rao. The programme saw participation of large number of volunteers from Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation who lent their assistance to the railway officers and staff in the cleanliness drive.

Addressing the gathering, Dattatreya highlighted the importance of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given priority to the programme. He stressed that cleanliness should be an everyday task and it was the duty of every citizen to lend their hand in ensuring a ‘Clean India.’

He spoke on the importance that was accorded to cleanliness by the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi who led by example in ensuring cleanliness in the surroundings. He made a special mention of the significant improvement made by Railways in general and South Central Railway in particular in the aspect of cleanliness of rail premises

Ramchander Rao administered the “Swachha Pledge” to the gathering and spoke on the importance being accorded towards cleanliness by the Union Government and expressed happiness that South Central Railway was undertaking the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” with commitment. Saxena said the sustained efforts made by the officers and staff contributed to Secunderabad Railway Station being recognised as the best station.
