Hyderabad: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on Friday, Governor ESL Narasimhan, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Ministers and others paid rich tributes to the Father of the Nation, at Bapu Ghat in Langar Houz, on his 146th birth anniversary.

The Chief Minister KCR reached Bapu Ghat in the morning and gave a warm welcome to the Governor’s on his arrival. Both of them walked up to the Bapu’s Samadhi and offered floral tributes. They also spent some time listening to all-religious prayer and discourses from Holy books apart from witnessing cultural programme presented by artistes.

Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao, Deputy Chief Minister Mohd Mahamood Ali, Home Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy, Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Khairatabad MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar, Telangana State Tourism Corporation Managing Director Christina, Protocol Secretary Aravind Singh, Hyderabad District Collector Rahul Bojja and several officials were present.

Earlier, TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy and other Congress leaders offered floral tributes at Bapu Ghat. A steady stream of school children and general public visited the Bapu Ghat on the occasion.

Later, KCR proceeded to the Legislative Assembly and placed flowers at the pedestal of the Mahatma Gandhi statue on the premises. Assembly Speaker S Madusudhana Chary, Council Chairman K Swamy Goud and other legislators offered floral tributes to the Mahatma.
