Siddipet: Minister for Irrigation T Harish Rao on Friday said all the houses at Siddipet in Medak district have toilets. This was made possible with the active cooperation of the people, he said. Launching Swachh Siddipet programme here on Friday, Harish Rao promised to ensure that all the houses across the Medak district emulate the Siddipet model.
Assembly Speaker S Madhusudana Chary, who was present, said efforts would be made to make the “Clean Siddipet” into Green Siddipet. Legislative Council Chairman Swamy Goud inaugurated the event by drum-beating. Individual toilets were constructed to free the town of open defection.
On the occasion, they also began “Swachh Siddipet programme” in the town. “Every individual should take part in “Swachh Village” programme to keep it clean and green,” he said, adding that “We will remain healthy when our environs are clean and green.”
Haritha Haram programme was to overcome pollution problem and weather vagaries, the Minister pointed out. In addition to 30 lakh saplings planted in Siddipet, another 5 lakh saplings were being planted, he said. He stressed the need to nurture the saplings.
Speaker S Madhusudana Chary said his Bhupalapally constituency would also be transformed into an ideal segment in Warangal on the lines the Siddipet constituency was developed. Praising Harish Rao for developing his home constituency, he said Siddipet had created history and would be emulated in the State for rapid growth and speedy development.
