Nizamabad: The urban and semi urban hinterland is witnessing rapid social, political and economic changes. The newspaper should reflect this emerging urban landscape, says The Hans India Editor Prof K Nageshwar.
Launching the Nizamabad edition of the daily at the Press Club here on Saturday, Prof Nageshwar said India is emerging as media super bazaar with all forms of media having immense potential for growth.
Unlike in the developed markets, the newspapers have bright future in India. A host of factors like urbanisation, improved transport, communication infrastructure, increasing politicalisation of masses, higher purchasing power, etc, are fuelling the growth of newspapers.
The expanding television and internet are complementing the growth of newspapers rather than contradicting. The television is creating appetite for news and newspapers are satisfying it, Nageshwar added. Contrary to the perception that English newspapers cater to the elite in society, Nageshwar said The Hans India would like to represent the unrepresented.
Without losing the broader and cognitive character, The Hans India would like to reflect the local aspirations, he added. Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director of the Hyderabad Media House K Hanumantha Rao said The Hans India would provide the interface between the decision makers and the people.
The daily would continue to perform its objective and critical adversarial function. Sai Reddy, The Hans India General Manager (Circulation) said the daily deserves credit for being the first English newspaper from Nizamabad.
Nizamabad’s is the fourth edition of the daily from Telangana and eighth one in total. The Rajahmundry edition of the daily would be launched soon. The Hans India has launched three editions so far in the last one year registering a remarkable progress.
