A galaxy of dignitaries are expected to grace the grand event at a city hotel

Hyderabad: The birth centenary of the former Deputy Chief Minister and one of the signatories to the Gentlemen’s Agreement in 1956 Joginapally Venkat Narsing Rao, also popularly known as JV saheb, will be celebrated here on Wednesday. The event, to be held at Grand Kakatiya Hotel, will be attended by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, Leader of the Opposition in Telangana Assembly K Jana Reddy and a host of other dignitaries.

On the occasion, KCR and Vidyasagar Rao will release books on JV’s biography titled ‘Telangana Muddubidda – JV Narsing Rao’ (Telugu) and ‘JV – ‘A Gentleman in Politics’ (English). While the English version was authored by Ch Rajeshwar Rao and C G K Murthy and the Telugu version is penned by T Udayawarlu. Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao, Telangana Chief Whip Koppula Eashwar and educationist Nawab Mehboob Alam Khan will take part in the function.

Advisor to the TS Government KV Ramanachary will preside over the meeting. The programme is being organised under the aegis of J V Narsing Rao Centenary Celebration Committee convener B Kamalakar Rao and chairman P Narsa Reddy. It may be noted here that JV, who worked as Deputy Chief Minister in the Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Cabinet, was a Gandhian and a true statesman.

He was an eminent lawyer and also participated in the struggle against the Nizam rule. He also served as the president of Hyderabad State Congress. He was a signatory to the Gentlemen’s Agreement, which is aimed safeguarding the interests of Telangana people, when Andhra Pradesh state was formed.
