State party chief L Ramana demands release of white paper on farm loan waiver scheme
Hyderabad: Announcing series of agitations against the TRS government’s failure in waiving farmers’ loans at once, Telangana TDP on Monday said the party would complain to President Pranab Mukherjee and Union Ministers against the government on the spate of farmer suicides in State on October 15 and 16 in New Delhi.
Addressing the press here, party president L Ramana said as part of intensifying the struggle, the party would organise dharnas in front of cooperative and scheduled banks in Hyderabad and district headquarters on October 13 and 14. The party delegation will also meet Governor ESL Narasimhan on October 14 and demand action against Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
The TDP leader alleged that Chandrashekar Rao did not pay heed to the Opposition’s demand to write off farmers loans at once and also failed to disburse institutional loans to the farmers in the Kharif season. Ramana said out of Rs 15,000 crore target, only Rs 5,000 crore was given as loans to the farming community this year.
Another senior leader R Chandrasekhar Reddy demanded that the government release white paper on loan waiver scheme and impose moratorium on private loans taken by farmers. He said the government order issued in connection with loan waiver scheme last year was full of errors.
