Hyderabad: Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy said that 400 houses would be sanctioned to every Assembly constituency as part of Telangana State government’s prestigious double-bedroom houses scheme for the poor.

The Minister organised a review meeting along with Ranga Reddy district MLAs, collector and revenue officials on Tuesday at the D-Block of the Secretariat.

He said the government was sanctioning a total of 5,600 houses to Ranga Reddy district on the basis of 400 houses to every constituency.

He said the Tahsildars had to identify the poor from every village along with local MLAs in a transparent manner.

Everyone had to realise Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s dream of constructing double-bedroom houses to every poor family, he urged the officials and the public representatives.

The Minister also said the construction of houses would be taken up at government sites located near the Panchayat Raj and R&B roads.

Some 20 to 40 houses would be constructed at one place and the government would give priority to transform the colony into a model colony, he said, adding that the government would transform the colonies as a role model by providing adequate infrastructure.

District collector M Raghunandan Rao said the officials had to identify lands, which were livable, in villages and asked the Tahsildars to identify the villages which have more poor families and prepare their list with special care.

The beneficiaries should be freshers and they should not be beneficiaries of houses and pattas earlier, the collector said.

The Tahsildars have to identify the lands for the construction of houses in the villages besides reporting the details of lands allotted to the government departments.

The collector asked the Tahsildars to prepare a list and submit it to the government on the lands in which the government created lay-outs and fell vacant.

The Tahsildars have to give priority to the lands which have no disputes. He suggested them to identify villages in consultation with the local MLAs.
