‘I have ample evidence that CBI grilled the Chief Minister for his actions when he was the Union Labour Minister’

Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao come out with a clarification on whether he was questioned by the CBI in connection with a long-pending case related to awarding works for the construction of ESI hospital in the city.

Addressing the press on Friday, party working president A Revanth Reddy said he had ample evidence that CBI grilled the Chief Minister for his actions when he was the Union Labour Minister between 2004 and 2006.The investigating agency was probing the reasons behind awarding the works to AP Fisheries and Animal Husbandry department bypassing the Central agency - National Building Construction Company.

“We came to know that CBI quizzed Chandrashekar Rao for more than three hours at his residence recently and enquired about the transfer of works to a State department,” he said, adding that the Chief Minister had the moral responsibility to clear all doubts over his role in the scam.

Revanth further said the contract works were given to Elugubanti Suryanarayana, an engineer in Fisheries department, who was accused in multi-crore construction and road works scam that came to light in 2007-08. In return, the engineer sponsored huge money for the construction of TRS head office, Telangana Bhavan, Revanth alleged.
