Karimnagar: Bharatiya Janata Party national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao challenged the political parties to include the subject of eating cow meat in their political manifestos. He questioned whether any mainstream political party has the guts to include the subject in their manifesto.

He made it clear that no political party would survive by openly supporting beef eating. Participating as a chief guest in a seminar on ‘River Godavari’ organised by Godavari Harathi Utsava Samithi at a private hotel here on Friday, Muralidhar Rao made these comments.

The political parties were trying to use beef eating issue for their political gains but no party would come forward to include the subject in their manifesto. Explaining the greatness of the river Godavari, BJP leader opined that future of the Telangana people was dependent on the river which flows about 430 kilometres stretch in the State.

He emphasised the need to debate about Godavari among the public since the development of the State linked with the river. He wanted the Harathi Utsava Samithi to take steps to plant medicinal plants along with the river bank to enhance biodiversity. Explaining the reason behind dropping coins in the rivers, Muralidhar Rao said that in earlier days, people used to drop coins made of copper which have the power to purify water but now people were dropping even currency notes.
