Hyderabad: Justice Vilas Afzalpurkar of the High Court at Hyderabad suspended an order of the Central government cancelling the Letter of Intent given to TV5 channel for start of a new channel.

The management of the channel- Shreya Broadcasting Private Limited filed a writ petition questioning the action of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting which by a letter of July 3 cancelled the Letter of Intent on the ground that the petitioner had failed to submit a bank guarantee in the prescribed form within the prescribed time.

The petitioner said that the authorities delayed the production of the prescribed form and though the bank guarantee was available thereafter refused to act on it.
