TDP, BJP raise a stink over exclusion of BC voters

Hyderabad: Telangana Telugu Desam Party and Bharatiya Janata Party complained against Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation officials for non inclusion of some BC voters in the recent survey on BC population in the Greater Hyderabad limits.

The party also demanded the State Election Commission undertake another round of survey and implement BC reservations in the GHMC limits in true spirit.

Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath, BJP greater Hyderabad president Venkat Reddy and others met State Election Commissioner Nagi Reddy and complained about the lapses observed in regard to the number of voters.

Speaking to media, Maganti Gopinath said that during the recent BC population survey, the officials of GHMC had registered people of various categories under BC. Names of several dead persons were also entered in the BC list by the officials.

He said in survey conducted by TDP and BJP, they found that names of about 1,000 voters was missing in each division. In Borabanda division of Jubilee Hills Constituency, a survey was conducted in 11 wards to find out the lapses in the list of voters and it has been identified that difference of 748 voters was listed in BC category.

According to the GHMC, 6,920 voters belong to BCs. In some cases, names of dead persons were also listed while in some wards, people complained that the officials had not visited them for survey, the MLA said. The MLA also demanded another round of survey by the GHMC officials to include the missing voters in the list.
