The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy on Wednesday asked the sanitation wing officials to ensure 100 per cent door-to-door garbage collection in the city limits. He also directed all the Assistant Medical Officers of Health (AMOHs) in this regard.

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy on Wednesday asked the sanitation wing officials to ensure 100 per cent door-to-door garbage collection in the city limits. He also directed all the Assistant Medical Officers of Health (AMOHs) in this regard.

Janardhan Reddy held a review meeting with sanitation wing officials and instructed them involve residential welfare associations, self help groups, apartment owners, sanitary field assistants and Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) groups for duly segregating dry and wet waste in two separate bins.

The Commissioner also stre­ssed upon maintaining punctuality and commitment while performing duties. He directed the AMOHs to personally monitor and ensure that the sanitation works start by 6 am. He also directed them to send the photographs through WhatsApp on a daily basis to know the working conditions to improve the same.

Janardhan Reddy also asked the AMOHs to take up awareness campaigns at educational institutions and educate children about segregating garbage in two separate bins.

He also directed the Additional Commissioner (Health and Sanitation) to implement that Prime Minister’s Suraksha Yojana (an insuran­ce scheme) for all sanitation wo­r­k­ers in the GHMC limits. Besides this, Janardhan Reddy also enquired with the Chief Transport Officer about the fleet of vehicles and said that the workers with driving licence would be included in the driver-cum-owner scheme to collect door-to-door garbage in auto-trolleys.
