Hyderabad: Portraits of ministers in Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s cabinet are conspicuous by its absence on billboards and banners installed by the State government for the campaign of welfare and developmental programmes in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.

Billboards erected on high rise buildings at major crossroads can be seen displaying only the Chief Minister’s portrait. The boards highlight the flagship programmes launched by the government since the TRS came into power. A brief description of each scheme and life size KCR’s portrait is being displayed on every board, prepared with a water resistant polythene material.

KCR is also holding the SC and Minority Welfare and Municipal Administration and Urban Development portfolios. But the boards display only KCR’s photo for every welfare programme of the government.

The boards have highlighted Harita Haaram, 24-hour power supply , Water Grid project, Mission Kakatiya, two bedroom scheme, development of road network, women development and child welfare activities and ‘She’ bur does not include the portraits of ministers concerned.

The government launched a massive campaign on the welfare activities taken up by the State in the city following strong indications that the notification for the GHMC elections is likely to be released in a month. The billboard campaign was launched a month ago and was intensified a week ago in the Greater Hyderabad limits. Aasara pension scheme and two bedroom housing has been given prominence among other schemes in the campaign. TDP MLA Vivekananda Goud alleged that the government, according to KCR, only meant him and his family members.
