Submitting a memorandum seeking hike for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for cotton to Rs 5,000 per quintal to cotton farmers in Telangana State, the Ministers stated that the current price was too less for the cotton farmers to even recover their input cost.

The Union Minister in response told the delegation of Ministers that he would recommend for increasing MSP to the Agriculture Ministry and instruct the CCI to purchase cotton five days in a week at centres.
