Karimnagar: Karimnagar was declared as illicitly distilled (ID) liquor free district. In a programme organised at Junior College (Arts) grounds here on Thursday, the district administration declared the district as gudumba-free.

Participating as chief guest in the programme, District Judge Nagamaruthi Sharma emphasised the need to impose total ban on liquor. Change in the society was possible when there was a change in the mindset of the public, he said. Besides severe effects on the health, liquor would damage the thinking levels of the human beings, he informed, adding that liquor would disturb peaceful atmosphere in the society.

District Collector Neetu Kumari Prasad said the announcement of Gudumba-free district was materialised only because of the four month’s hardwork done by excise and civil police.
