Multiple verification centres for BPS, LRS
The Town Planning wing in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is all set to launch multiple land and building verification centres in the city limits for hassle free registrations. This decision was taken after a review meeting with Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

The Town Planning department officials told The Hans India that the corporation will hand over statuary registrations verification to private agencies, where they will verify if the documents issued by the State are according to the guidelines.
The civic body officials further stated that so far (GO issued on November 2) they have only managed to regularise about 5,000 applications under Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS) and Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) and are confident to regularise at least 50,000 applications in the stipulated time ( by January first week) in the GHMC limits. The official felt that it is merely a herculean task to regularise 45,000 applications in one month.
The officials feel that in order to achieve the target, there is a need for private agencies to indulge in the verification process. They also noted that this would be introduced on a trial basis in the GHMC and would be extended to remaining districts in Telangana. The GHMC is expecting to generate about Rs 800 crore through both LRS and BPS.
Meanwhile, the GHMC, in order to check the corruption, has been accepting only online applications for regularisation under the BPS and LRS. The corporation also said that it would not regularise unauthorised buildings constructed after October 28 and stringent measures including demolition would be taken up.
