World Disabled Day observed

Khammam: “Self-confidence and firm determination are the two important tools which make a person successful in his/her life in any field irrespective of one’s disability,” said V Muralidhar Rao, DRDA Project Director.

On the occasion of 56th World Disabled Day, a rally was held from Pavilion Grounds to Bhakta Ramadas Kalakshetram here on Thursday. Joint Collector K Babu Rao inaugurated the rally by waving the flag. Later, the departments of Disability, MEPMA, DRDA, DWAMA and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan has jointly organised a meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, DWAMA Project Director Jagath Kumar Reddy said that the government was implementing many developmental programmes for the public welfare.

Stating that special working days were allotted for the disabled people living in the villages under the programme of Village Employment scheme, he requested the disabled persons to use them.

Additional Director of department of Disability Munnaiah said that the department of Disability along with the Corporation for the disabled has been implementing several welfare schemes for the disabled.

Loans were sanctioned under self-employment schemes to the disabled along with giving special equipments and tri-cycles. Information and Public Relation Department Additional Director P Bhaskar said that both the Central and State governments were giving assurance to the disabled people by designing and implementing various welfare schemes. The government has been providing reservations for the disabled persons in education and employment sectors and also filling up the vacant posts.

MEPMA Project Director Venu Manohar Rao, RVM Project Officer Dr Lakshman Rao, Ravi Kumar, Anandvani, Rabbani, Gundala MPDO Kotaiah and Nelakondapalli MPDO Srinivas Reddy were present along with others.
