Cong MP slams TRS for conducting ‘camps’

Nalgonda: “It is unfortunate that the ruling TRS party, which is exuding confidence on having the magic figure, has been conducting camps of MPTCs and Municipal counsellors for the purpose of local bodies MLC elections,” Congress MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy lamented.Speaking at a media conference here on Friday, Sukhender Reddy said that TRS has shifted 192 MPTCs to Cochin in eight buses since the last two days to conduct a camp regarding local body MLC elections of Nalgonda district. Moreover, two days prior to the release of election notification, Municipal Counsellors were also shifted to Goa.
Stating that 60 percent of representatives of these local bodies were women, he Nalgonda MP questioned, whether it was proper to keep them away from their families as polling would be held after 20 days. “It is a wonder that the TRS, which is confident of party candidate’s victory, is holding such type of camps,” he stated.
He urged the 552 local bodies’ representatives, who got the right to vote on Congress symbol, to cast their vote in the election according to their conscience. He requested the State Election Commission to take the news reports published in news dailies on election camps into consideration.
Disclosing that Congress party may announce the candidate for Nalgonda local body MLC elections soon, Sukhender Reddy appealed to the Left parties to back their candidate and cooperate with them in protecting democracy. He also urged the officials to strictly implement the election code and bind over those who has criminal background.
Miryalaguda MLA Bhaskar Rao and Congress leader P Venkata Narayana were also present.
