MEDAK MLC POLL

Sangareddy: The contest for the MLC election in Medak District is turning more and more one-sided with no ticket aspirant coming forward from the Congress party to fight the polls.

There are about 880 voters in the district, out of which 500 odd voters estimated to be on the side of ruling TRS side, which will make winning the election a cake walk for the pink party candidate.

The Congress initially has considered the names of MA Fayeem, Bandaru Srikanth, Sivaraj Patil, but as they showed no inclination towards contesting, it picked up senior leader Someshwar Reddy from Dubbak constituency. However, he has asked for some more time to decide on it. Meanwhile, former minister

V Sunitha Laxma Reddy has also backed out from contesting. Considering the situation, Former Deputy Chief Minister Damodara Raja Narasimha has decided that if nobody comes forward to contest the election, former Government Whip T Jayaprakash Reddy would take the leap.

With a view to avoid TRS candidature becoming unanimously elected and to keep up the spirit of the Congress cadres, Jayaprakash Reddy has agreed to contest the election though the winning chances are slim, according to sources. While this being the position of Congress, the high command of TRS party has already decided on fielding Former MLC V Bhoopal Reddy.
