Sangareddy: TTDP MLA R Krishnaiah has taken a strong objection to the State government focusing its attention on ambitious plan of implementing the water grid scheme instead of addressing the problems of unemployed, farmers, students not getting scholarships and the issues of the Backward Class community.

Speaking to the media persons at the District Collectorate on Friday, he said only one or two BC households in a village could get loans. He demanded that every applicant should be given loan through BC Corporation. He also demanded that the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme should be extended to BCs as well as the poor people belonging to the upper castes.

He pointed out that one of the main reasons for farmers’ suicide was due to heavy financial burden borne by farmers for marriages. He urged the government to scale up the amount of the Kalyana Laxmi and Shaadi Mubarak from Rs 51,000 to Rs 1 lakh to relieve the farmers of the financial burden.

He demanded that the loans of 30 lakh farmers be waived and scholarships of 14 lakh students be cleared by releasing Rs 1,600 crore. He alleged that the government was interested in cornering “commissions” by giving contracts for Rs 42,000 crore water grid project.
