Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday requested his Maharashtra counterpart to take necessary steps for the early completion of Lendi inter-state irrigation project taken up by the two States years ago.

In a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Chandrashekar Rao said land acquisition, rehabilitation and resettlement for the villages coming under submergence and getting CWC (Central Water Commission) clearance etc., was still pending. Chandrashekar Rao said Telangana had already deposited Rs 189.73 crore as its share as per the requisition received from Maharashtra government.

He recalled the meeting he had with Fadnavis in February this year and the minister-level talks that followed in July and November. The Chief Minister urged Fadnavis to intervene in this matter immediately and issue necessary instructions to the concerned officials to complete the project and realise the intended benefits of it.
