Hyderabad: The race for the post of Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (T BJP) president has begun with just a week left before the incumbent president G Kishen Reddy’s term coming to an end.

According to party insiders, the Backward Class leaders have already voiced their demand that one of them should be given a chance to head the T BJP.

A delegation of the BC leaders has represented their demand to the party high command in this regard. Prominent among the aspirants are former MLA Yendla lakshminarayana, and floor leader in Assembly K Laxman. Apart from them, Khairatabad MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, P Chandrasekhar, N Ramachandra Rao and former MLA N Indrasena Reddy are also reportedly in the race.

Sources in BJP told The Hans India that with incumbent party chief G Kishan Reddy's term ending on December 9, the party high command is mulling elevating someone from BC community to the post of State president and appoint Legislative Floor Leader from the Reddy community. In such a situation, it is possible that BJP floor leader Laxman and Kishen Reddy will swap the posts.
