Warangal: National parties Congress and BJP and the TDP which asserts to be national party have come to face a strange political situation in the district in the backdrop of local bodies’ constituency MLC election.

The parties seemed alienated in the ongoing local bodies MLC election in the district and maintaining an unusual silence with regard to the election. Firstly the parties were yet to come out of the impact of the drubbing they faced in the just concluded Warangal parliament by-election.

Secondly, the parties lacked strength at all and hence not even considering of contesting the election. None of the above parties possess required strength at least to make an attempt to contest, leave alone winning the seat.

The Congress has strength of about 200 members and the TDP has around 145 members in different local bodies while the BJP claims of a handful of members. But majority of them embraced the TRS soon after their election in 2014. This has given the TRS strength of about 600 members in the local bodies.

The total strength is now 862 in the district. The number is excluding the members of Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation for which the election is yet to take place. MPTCS of Mangapet and Hanamkonda Mandal Praja Parishads have no voting right due to legal wrangles.
When asked the TPPC Chief, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, here on Saturday, he denied commenting on the possibility of Congress fielding its candidate in the MLC election. ‘There is nothing to speak on the issue,’ he said indicating the party’s disinterest in the election.
The same is the response of BJP district president E Ashok Reddy, who said there was no clarity on the issue in the party yet. TDP district general secretary P Ashok told The Hans India here on Saturday that the party was not contesting in the election as none is ready to take the risk.

Meanwhile, the TRS leaders here are over the moon on their winning prospects and the future of the party in the State in the days to come. ‘The current situation prevailing in the district indicates what will be the state of the national parties in the future in Telangana,’ asserted TRS district president T Ravinder Rao.

‘Despite being national parties, Congress, BJP and TDP are not in a position to field their candidates in the election. In Telangana the future belongs to the TRS as the public trusted in the party chief and Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao,’ he added.
