195 churches gear up for Christmas fete
For the first time, Christmas will be celebrated as a State festival at 195 places across the Telangana State, including nine districts, Telangana Christian Minority Finance Corporation Managing Director Victor has said.
Hyderabad: For the first time, Christmas will be celebrated as a State festival at 195 places across the Telangana State, including nine districts, Telangana Christian Minority Finance Corporation Managing Director Victor has said. Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, Victor, on behalf of the State government, said the festivities of Christmas would be celebrated in a grand manner for which elaborate arrangements have been made in 195 churches in the State.
Victor said it was decided to conduct the festival in 100 places in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and 95 places in the nine districts. To mark the occasion, the TRS government offered to distribute clothes to 1.95 lakh poor Christian brethren, Victor stated. After the Christmas prayers, 100 persons will be invited to the lunch being arranged at all of these places, he said. Under the GHMC area, one church in every area will work as a nodal centre to conduct the event in 100 places, he added.
