Warangal: The Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu appealed the citizens to join hands with the police to effectively execute the ‘Safe Colony’ initiative taken up by the Warangal Police Commissionerate.

The Commissioner on Sunday inaugurated Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) network at Adarsha Nagar under Hanamkonda police station limits. The colony residents installed the CCTVs in association with the Commissionerate.

The initiative was aimed at involving the citizens in maintaining effective law and order as part of the people friendly policing. The people should cooperate with the police in converting the city into a safe place for all.

The Commissioner, Sudheer Babu, appreciated the efforts of Adarsha Nagar residents in coming forward to install the CCTV network and appealed the residents of other colonies to emulate them. He interacted with the residents and reviewed the functioning of the CCTVs.

He informed that Adarsha Nagar residents have installed 22 cameras to monitor the movements of people in the colony. Barricades were erected to restrict traffic movement during the night hours. The colony would have only one entry and exit point from 10.30 pm to 5 am.

The residents of the colony would be given ID cards. In the days to come another 15 colonies in the city would be converted into safe colonies by installing CCTVs, which the Commissioner said could put a check on crime rate. Colony president Indrasena Reddy, Sunder Rao, Vidyasagar Reddy, Kumaraswamy and others felicitated Commissioner Sudheer Babu, ACP P Shoban Kumar and Hanamkonda Inspector Kiran Kumar on the occasion.

ACPs Janardhan and Mahender, KUC Inspector SM Ali and Hanamkonda Sub-Inspector Srinivas were present.
