Hyderabad: The sleuths of Task Force and civil supplies department apprehended four persons in four different cases during raids, which were conducted in West Zone on Monday.

The officials raided warehouses at Kishanbagh and Mangalhat, and also intercepted the vehicles at Bahadurpura and Puranapul. They seized about 120 quintals of PDS (Public Distribution System) rice and wheat and one four-wheeler, while two men remained at large. The accused were identified as Syed Feroz, 25, auto-driver, Mohd Imran Khan, 22, godown in-charge, P Omprakash, 30, businessman, Mohd Abu Almas, 24, businessman. While two of the businessmen Munagar, 40 and Fareed, 38 remained at large.

Police inquiry revealed these persons were indulging in the scam by supplying the PDS rice to certain places like Zaheerabad, Bodhan of Nizamabad, Karnataka and Gujarat for gaining illegal profits.

The accused Omprakash is running a ration shop at Jinsi chouraha, Mangalhat, Hyderabad and procuring ration directly from the beneficiaries at Rs 8 per Kg and also procuring the rice which is not taken by the beneficiaries and selling the same to the rice agents at Rs 14 per kg.

The accused Munawar is procuring rice from the different fair shops in Old City and also some of the local Kirana shop vendors for Rs 8-10 per kg and maintaining a godown at Kishanbagh and with the help of Syed Feroz he is transporting same to district-level agents for Rs 12-14 per kg on a four-wheeler vehicle.
