1.5 lakh acres to get water by June next
The State government has targeted to provide irrigation facility to 1.50 lakh acres of land under Sripada Yellampalli irrigation project in Karimangar district by June next year.

Hyderabad: The State government has targeted to provide irrigation facility to 1.50 lakh acres of land under Sripada Yellampalli irrigation project in Karimangar district by June next year.
Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao reviewed the progress in the project works with the officials here on Tuesday. He instructed the officials to complete rehabilitation and project works on war-footing. The Minister asked the officials to submit a report on the proposal to construct a barrage at Jaina village on the Godavari river under the project.
The officials informed Harish that works taken up for the construction of three lifts out of the total seven were in progress. Works for other four lifts had been stalled due to various reasons, they said. The Minister instructed to cancel the tenders and call a fresh one and complete the works immediately.
He said rehabilitation of the displaced people under the project would be given utmost priority which included construction of houses, allocations of alternative lands and monetary compensation. The conservation of heritage structures at Kotilingala temple facing submergence under the project would be taken into consideration and a meeting with the concerned officials would be held soon, the Minister said.
Revival of tanks near the project site and development of new water bodies in the districts were also discussed in the meeting attended by Government Chief Whip K Eswar and Engineer-in-Chief (Irrigation) C Muralidhar Rao and others.
