HC to decide on status of Wakf Board official

A two judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice S V Bhatt on Tuesday admitted two writ appeals on the question whether an official of the Wakf Board is a public servant.

The question arises in the context of two accused persons serving a life sentence not being given the advantage of remission of their life sentence.

A single judge dismissed their plea on the ground that the order of the government granting remission had excluded murder of public servant and in the instant case the petitioners had murdered an official of the Wakf Board.
