TRS MP B Vinod says the State government may move SC for Krishna waters

Hyderabad: The Telangana government is likely to move Supreme Court against the Centre to get its rightful share of Krishna waters to the State. The State government on Tuesday expressed its displeasure over the Centre for its reported comments that the issue of water distribution would be confined to States only.

“We condemn the Centre for its comments which deprive Telangana of its share of waters from the Krishna,” TRS MP B Vinod Kumar said. The Centre failed to keep its promise on sharing of Krishna waters, he said and condemned the way the Centre was denying share to Telangana.

“When we met Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharathi in Delhi, she said justice would be done to Telangana State on the river water issue. But now the Centre is adopting dual standards and denying our share,” he deplored. “With no other go, we will fight at any level and move the apex court of the country,” Vinod Kumar said.

He also alleged that the Centre succumbed to the pressure mounted by the Karnataka and Maharashtra governments in this regard. The partiality being shown by the Centre would be exposed at a right platform, he said. He also accused the Centre of deceiving the people of the State despite its promise of doing justice with regard to river water sharing among the riparian States.
