Hyderabad: The city police on Thursday arrested 10 persons in separate cases including an eight-member gang for stealing valuables of passengers of sharing autos. They recovered 65 tolas of gold ornaments, one auto, eight mobile phones besides cash of Rs 1.7 lakh from them.
According to North Zone Additional DCP PY Giri, an eight-member attention diversion gang was busted by the Karkhana police from Jubilee Hills bus station and Hasmathpet on Thursday.
The accused Mohd Feroz Khan and Mohd Asif teamed up with Mohd Irshad, Mohd Saleem, Mohd Ikramuddin, Mohd Shahid, Julfikar and Aaryan Chowdary of UP, were stealing valuables from the passengers travelling in sharing autos in Hyderabad and Cyberabad since 2013, the officer said. He said one of the accused drives an auto and two or three of the accused act like passengers and engage passengers at bus stations and railway stations. On signalling the driver, he stops the auto as if the vehicle has a broke down and they steal the gold ornaments, luggage and other valuables of the passengers and leave the place.
In another case, the Bowenpally police arrested two persons for committing six burglaries including one at Banjara Hills.
