Hyderabad: The Telangana Telugu Desam Party (TTDP) will be holding its first public meeting at Nizam College Grounds here on December 24 with party national president N Chandrababu Naidu addressing the gathering.

According to party sources, this would mark the blowing of the bugle for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls. It is learnt that TDP National Committee General Secretary N Lokesh will be the star campaigner along with his father and party President N Chandrababu Naidu in the ensuing GHMC elections scheduled to be held in January 2016.

Lokesh held a meeting with Telangana party unit leaders which was attended by TTDP President L Ramana and GHMC party wing leaders at NTR Trust Bhavan here on Friday. Lokesh told senior leaders that he will participate in party rallies, door to door campaign and public meetings in the city.

To woo the public, the leaders have been asked to prepare a separate election manifesto focusing on development of infrastructure and civic amenities like safe drinking water and road network.

Following increased shifting of loyalties to the TDP leaders to ruling TRS in the recent times, party sources said that Lokesh took the GHMC election as a prestigious issue. He wanted to revive the fortunes of the party in the civic body election by taking up a vigorous campaign and consolidate the party.

He instructed party cadre to take on the TRS government and its failure in addressing civic problems in every ward. Lokesh will personally monitor the party activities in the city and hold meeting with the leaders from ward to State level on a regular basis, party leaders said.

The meeting also decided to constitute a coordination committee meeting with BJP so that they can go in for a joint campaign without any internal squabbling between the cadres of the two parties. The TTDP will also hold ward wise meetings on December 16 and 17.
