Hyderabad: The YSRCP despite not having any presence in the GHMC even in terms of cadre has decided to contest all the 150 divisions in the ensuing elections.

This decision was taken at the party’s Telangana unit meeting presided over by the President P Srinivas Reddy at the central party office here on Saturday. “We have decided to contest in all the 150 divisions in the upcoming GHMC elections and we will emerge as a force in the Corporation elections,” party’s Telangana general secretary K Shiva Kumar told the reporters.

According to the party leaders, their main poll plank will be the schemes launched by former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. It was his government which had completed the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad and other infrastructure facilities like the Outer Ring Road, PV Narasimha Rao Express Highway and had developed the Greater Hyderabad, they said. It was he who started the Metro Rail project but the successive governments had failed to complete it so far, he said.

However, the T TDP leaders like E Dayakar Rao say that it is a ploy by the ruling TRS to split the votes in areas where people from Andhra Pradesh were more in number.

He said the TRS leaders have turned the chambers of State Ministers in the Secretariat into brokers' dens. He strongly criticised KCR for luring leaders of Opposition parties and resorting to tactics like making YSRCP put up candidates in the GHMC polls. Rao added that even the MLC elections were not being held in a democratic manner. He said that the TDP would lodge a complaint with the Election Commission of India on the irregularities.
