BJP boss to discuss strategy for GHMC polls with the state party leaders

  • BJP-TDP combine will contest the GHMC poll and win, asserts Kishan Reddy
  • State leaders to apprise Union Ministers and ask them to expedite the pending projects

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy and other T-BJP leaders have been called to New Delhi by the party president Amit Shah to take stock of the political situation in the State and the strategies it needs to adopt for the GHMC elections. Speaking to media on Tuesday, Kishan Reddy said that they would also try to meet the Union Ministers and take up various pending issues pertaining to the State.

Asked about the GHMC election strategies, Kishan Reddy said that BJP and TDP would contest the forthcoming GHMC elections together and would also win them. He said both the parties would soon initiate discussions on allocation of seats after the finalisation of reservation of seats. He said that the BJP-TDP combine was quite strong in the city and it would win the elections.

Replying to a question on what makes him think that the BJP-TDP combine was strong in the city when the TBJP and TTDP were facing internal squabbles and defections to ruling party, Kishan Reddy said the very fact that the TRS which had initially claimed that they would win 100 seats has now scaled down their claim to 75. He said some leaders from TTDP might have migrated to TRS but the cadre was still strong. The BJP too has a very strong cadre and both the parties together were sure of winning about 75 seats.

Kishan Reddy also said that the State government should conduct GHMC elections towards end of January. The government was planning to hold elections during Sankranti festival holidays. This is being planned to deprive the voters hailing from Seemandhra region from exercising their franchise. He said that the TRS-MIM combine have been resorting to several unethical means to win the elections. However, he said that the people of Hyderabad would reject such political stunts.
