Kamareddy (Nizamabad): The Nizamabad police conducted a free health camp and distributed sports kits at Gidda village of Sadashivanagar mandal in the district on Tuesday under the people’s friendly policing programme in the villages infested with Maoists.

Inaugurating the medical camp, Kamareddy DSP A. Bhaskar said that earlier, the people were extremely scared to come to the Gidda village because of the presence of extremists. But now, the villagers have changed their attitudes and were developing their village in all aspects, he added.

The police department was actively participating in various development activities. They were conducting health camps in various villages, the DSP added. He said that the youth of Gidda and surrounding villages utilised the police recruitment camps, which would conduct in future and secure government jobs, he added.

Camp doctors provided medical treatment to nearly 600 patients of the village and distributed the cricket and volley ball sports kits to the village youth on the occasion. Physicians from Medicity hospital, DSP G. Ravinder, Kamareddy Circle Inspector of Police Koteshwar Rao, SS Nagar Sub-Inspectors Pratap Lingam, Naresh, Saveen, Village Sarpanch Praveen Goud and other villagers were present.
