Hyderabad: TRS MLC B Bhanu Prasad, who was the House Committee Chairman of Rajiv Rahadari, said the enquiry report on the spate of road accidents on the highway prepared in 2012 made it clear that the plan adopted for the upgradation of road to four lanes was “unscientific and was resulting in many accidents”.

He said he was surprised to know that Rajiv Rahadari has been put in the safest road category. However, he said: “I will not directly comment on conferring accident-free road status to the highway unless I verify the parameters taken into consideration by the department.”

The TRS MLC said the road widening was taken up without acquiring land resulting in the number of sharp curves at many places.

There were nearly 100 such dangerous curves. Road accidents cannot be prevented without rectifying this, he said.

In 2012, then Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy ordered an enquiry into the Rajiv Rahadari scam by constituting an eight-member House Committee headed by Prasad. The issue also rocked the Legislative Council. The report was tabled in the Council but is yet to be made public.
