The PIL bench of the High Court at Hyderabad on Monday adjourned to after vacations a public interest writ petition questioning the action of the government in demolishing heritage structures in the city.

The bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice SV Bhatt was dealing with a public interest writ petition filed by T Bucha Reddy, a resident of the city. The petitioner questioned the action of the State government in deleting the Regulation 13 of Hyderabad Urban Development Authority Zoning Regulations, 1981, which protected the heritage buildings precincts.

Senior Counsel Satyam Reddy appearing for the petitioner pointed out that the regulation was introduced and notified by the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and this had approval of the State government.
