Warangal: Revolutionary writer Varavara Rao raised objection against the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court for cancelling the bail of Delhi University professor G N Saibaba on Wednesday and asking him to surrender before the police.

Speaking to press persons in Hanamkonda on Saturday, he termed the courts’ decision ‘atrocious’ while urging the public to condemn it. The arrest of 90 percent disabled and wheelchair-bound Saibaba was against all international laws. The government intends to threaten those who question it.

Civil rights activists, eminent academicians of Delhi University, and all the peoples’ organisations were demanding immediate release of Prof Saibaba from jail and to withdraw cases against him, Varavara Rao said.

He also wanted immediate withdrawal of contempt of court notice served on social activist Arundhati Roy for writing an article on Prof Saibaba, who was first arrested by Maharashtra police in May 2015 for alleged Maoist links.
