IT & Panchayat Raj Minister K T Rama Rao has got a shot in the arm with the Union government, on Monday, approving the proposal of setting up Institute of Driving Training and Research Institute (IDTRI) in Sircilla Assembly constituency, from where the Minister was elected as MLA.

Hyderabad: IT & Panchayat Raj Minister K T Rama Rao has got a shot in the arm with the Union government, on Monday, approving the proposal of setting up Institute of Driving Training and Research Institute (IDTRI) in Sircilla Assembly constituency, from where the Minister was elected as MLA.

The institute will be established at a cost of Rs 16.48 crore at Mandepalli village in Sircilla mandal in Karimnagar district. The IDTRI will cater to the needs of southern States.

The project will be taken up under PPP (Public–Private Partnership) involving State government, Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and Ashok Leyland.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between State Transport department and the company would be signed within one month from the date of sanction of IDTR. Land will be provided free of cost by the State government for the project. The institute would provide training in driving to all categories of drivers both in organised and unorganised sectors, not only form within the State but also from neighbouring States.
