Putting all the apprehensions of Kaisar Nagar villagers to rest, who took up agitation over the Hussainsagar silt dumping site, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) had converted the site into a tree park.

After protest from Kaisar Nagar villagers, the metropolitan authority stopped dumping Hussainsagar silt at the site. It developed the site in to a tree park now.

Hyderabad: Putting all the apprehensions of Kaisar Nagar villagers to rest, who took up agitation over the Hussainsagar silt dumping site, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) had converted the site into a tree park.

Earlier, HMDA use to dump the hazardous silt of Hussainsagar at their three acre land at Kaisar Nagar near Gajularamaram village. The authority has stopped dumping after 2014, when the Pollution Control Board intervened in to the matter.

A senior official said villagers fearing that black colored silt was hazardous and was affecting their soil and groundwater, agitated over the issue. “We have raised the park with the intention to show that the silt is harmless and would not affect anyone,” he said.

HMDA has raised several saplings of medicinal and aromatic plants. Officials informed that they were also planning to distribute special kind of medicinal plants to the desired people in nearby villagers.
