Hyderabad: Demanding that the State government complete the construction of houses for the poor, Congress senior leader and former MP Ponnam Prabhakar alleged that the TRS government had not yet constructed a single house though it had given a GO for the construction of 60,000 dwellings.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Tuesday, Ponnam alleged that the government informed something to the court and was practicing quite the opposite way with regard to the double-bedroom houses scheme.
He asserted that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had thrown on the streets the people of Chinnamukkalnuru, which was adopted by him. He alleged that the government had demolished houses in Chinnmukkalnuru village assuring that it would construct new houses to them, but not yet started the construction though five months had already passed since it made the promise.
Alleging that the government was issuing GOs before the elections every time for the sake of votes, Ponnam criticised it for issuing orders to the people to apply for houses to the local MLA and said the decision was atrocious.
The government informed the court that the ‘Grama Sabhas’ would select the beneficiaries but once again the government issued orders asking the people to apply for the houses to the MLA.
He alleged that the government had constructed a small colony and was showing it as a model colony every time. Finding fault with the IT Minister K T Rama Rao’s statement that the government would construct 1.8 lakh houses, he said that the government was passing time without acquiring the land to construct the houses only to get votes in GHMC elections.
Meanwhile, describing the K Chandrashekar Rao as an ‘absent Chief Minister’, TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka alleged that Chandrashekar Rao was ruling the State with a feudal attitude and was showing his ‘Dorathanam’ keeping the public issues aside. The Chief Minister was not attending Secretariat and ruling the State with his own agenda, he asserted.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Tuesday along with TPCC general secretary Kusuma Kumar, Bhatti said that Chandrashekar Rao was dictating the people of the State, just as he gave directions to his workers at his farmhouse.
He alleged that Chandrashekar Rao was taking important decisions unilaterally without consulting any others, at the cost of natural resources. Finding fault with Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao for taking credit for the permission from Maharashtra to construct Pranahitha-Chevella project, Bhatti said Harish got permission only to construct the barrage at the height of 148 feet instead of 152 feet, and alleged that injustices would be meted out to Telangana, whereas Maharashtra got benefited with the decrease of height of the project.
Alleging that the TRS government succumbed to the pressure of Maharashtra with regard to the height of Pranahitha-Chevella project, Bhatti explained that Telangana would lose Rs 8,000 crores due to the change of design of the project.
