Nizamabad: Even during drought conditions, the Rural Water Supply 9RWS) officials should supply drinking water to all the dwellings regularly, Collector Yogita Rana said.

She conducted a review meeting with RWS and other department officials at the Collectorate here on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, she said that the district administration sanctioned Rs one lakh to each MPDO officer to solve the crisis.

The negligence of field-level staff was the reason behind drinking water scarcity in the district, the Collector pointed out. Also, Rs 2.53 crore CRF and non-CRF funds at the district administration were left unutilised from the last one year, she lamented.

Yogita Rana directed the RWS officials to start the maintenance works of pipelines and repair motors on January 8, 9 and 10.

JC Ravinder Reddy said that the local bodies should utilise the general funds to solve drinking water scarcity, take borewells on the basis of rent, and give priority to deepening and flushing of the government bore-wells, the JC added.

Additional Joint Collector Rajaram, DRO Mohan Lal, RWS Superintending Engineer, DRDA Project Director and others participated in the meeting.
