Hyderabad: Left parties, comprising CPI, CPI(M), CPI(ML) New Democracy, CPI (ML), MCPI (U), CPI(ML) Liberation, SUCI (C), Forward Block and RSP have demanded the government that they should order a judicial inquiry with the sitting High Court judge into the Hyderabad Central University student Rohith’s suicide and file non-bailable cases on the persons responsible for the death of Rohith.

The suspension imposed on other four students should be withdrawn and help extended to the bereaved family by paying the scholarship that was to be paid to Rohith, they said. In a press release on Wednesday, nine Left parties alleged that the students were losing their ‘freedom of expression’ right in the universities due to saffronisation of education.

The BJP-affiliated student union ABVP and Sangh Parivar forces were entering into universities and spreading their communal feelings, they said. They demanded that Union Ministers Smriti Irani and Bandaru Dattatreya and UoH Vice-Chancellor Appa Rao, who were allegedly the reason for the death of Rohith, to move aside from their positions voluntarily till they are proved innocent.

The Left parties said that it was highly objectionable that the two-member fact finding committee members were from Union Human Resources Development department, which was the reason for the death of Rohith.

CPI AP secretary K Ramakrishna, CPI (M) AP secretary P Madhu, CPI (ML) New Democracy leader Y Sambasiva Rao and Chittipati Venkateshwarlu, CPI (ML) leader Gurram Vijay Kumar, MCPI (U) leader M Venkat Reddy, SUCI (C) leader BS Amarnath, Forward Block leader PVSundara Ramaraju and RSP leader Janaki Ramulu undersigned the press release.
