In a blow to the Telangana TDP just before the ensuing GHMC elections, former minister and Telangana TDP vice-president Krishna Yadav resigned from the party post alleging that he was ignored by the party in the ticket allocations.

Krishna Yadav, who served as labour minister in Chandrababu Naidu's cabinet, had recently joined the TDP. He was arrested in the multi-core fake stamps racket case and was suspended from the party in 2004.

Political analysts feel that his resignation would slightly affect the party in the GHMC elections as Krishna Yadav hails from the powerful Yadav community which has a large number of voters in the city. He was elected MLA from Himayath Nagar in 1994 and also worked as a whip.
