Warangal: Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari directed the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) officials to chalk out a comprehensive plan of action to ensure drinking water supply to all the citizens under the corporation limits. He chaired a review meeting with the GWMC officials on the drinking water, drainage, roads and other issues at the District Collectorate here on Thursday. Proper water supply has to be ensured to villages merged into the Corporation, he said.
The officials told the Deputy CM that water from LMD canal could not be supplied to Bhadrakali and Waddepalli summer storage tanks during the current season. Srihari told the officials to initiate alternate measures to supply water from Gandi Ramaram and Station Ghanpur tanks and to pump water from Devadula intake well at river Godavari.
Responding on Warangal (West) MLA D Vinay Bhasker suggestion of restoring electricity supply to static tanks existing in the city, the Deputy CM asked the officials to revive the static tanks. Funds for the electricity bills for the purpose would be drawn from MP, MLA and MLC funds. Srihari expressed anger at public health engineering officials and told them to improve their functioning. He also asked the GWMC officials to make efforts to meet the public expectations in terms of delivery of services.
Srihari asked the R&B and Corporation officials to work with coordination in executing roads works under the corporation limits. He wanted the GWMC officials to prepare development proposals to make use of Rs 300 crore budgetary allocations to the corporation promised by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
On the occasion, Deputy CM K Srihari also reviewed the progress of arrangements being made for Sammakka Saralamma Jatara. The CM was expected to visit Medaram on February 19 to offer prayers to the deities, he informed. MPs A Seetharam Naik, P Dayakar, G Sudharani, MLAs T Rajaiah and A Ramesh, District Collector V Karuna Commissioner Sarfaz Ahmed and others were present.
