Beedi workers sit on a dharna

Kamareddy (Nizamabad): The beedi workers sat on a dharna at the RDO office in the town on Monday protesting against the enlargement of the danger sign, the picture of a skull warning of cancer on the beedi bundles by 85 per cent.

The leaders of various trade unions like Mothi Rao and Rajalingam warned that they would intensify their agitation if the government failed to withdraw the GO No. 727. People would stop buying the beedis if the warning sign was enlarged, they said and it would hit the livelihood of the beedi workers, they lamented.
