Warangal: The Central government was planning to set up a state-of-the-art 100-bed ESI Hospital in Warangal, said Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya.

He said the existing 52-bed ESI Hospital at Labour Colony in Warangal was in poor state. The building and equipment were not up to the standard and there were many vacant positions. In order to offer quality medical services to the labourers the old hospital would be replaced with the new one.

Speaking to press persons in Warangal on Saturday, Dattatreya informed that he asked the Regional Director of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) to look into the status of existing hospital and submit a report. After going through the report the new hospital would be sanctioned.

The 100-bed hospital would serve the needs of workforce engaged in unorganised sector such as domestic, construction, rickshaw pullers, anganwadi workers and others who were brought into domain of the ESIC.

Dattatreya further informed that a modern employment exchange in Warangal district would soon be set up. The employment skills of youth would be boosted as part of ‘Pradhana Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana’ through a skill development centre that would be set up here.
The ministry has a portal called ‘National Career Service’ and with its help both the job seekers and job givers would be brought together with specialised services to local youth. It was being planned to bring 35 crore people under health insurance coverage through ESIC in the days to come, the Labour Minister added.

Later he held a meeting with the BJP leaders and discussed about the ensuing municipal elections. On alliance with the TDP in the elections a decision would be taken after consulting the local party leaders, he said.

Earlier in the day, Dattatreya visited Medaram to offer prayers to Sammakka Saralamma. Efforts would be made to gain national festival status to the Jatara. ‘I would speak to Union Culture Minister in this regard and to ensure central funding for Jatara next time,’ he added.

BJP MLA Ch Ramachandra Reddy, party senior leaders T Rajeshwara Rao, M Dharma Rao, M Satyanarana Reddy, BJP city wing president Ch Sunil, leaders Prof K Venkata Narayana Rao and others were present.
