Hyderabad: The TRS government has taken all measures to check price rise of essential commodities and ensure food security to one and all, asserted Finance Minister Eatala Rajender in the Assembly on Wednesday. In reply to a question, Rajender said the government would deal with black marketeers sternly.

The Finance Minister explained various steps taken by the government to check price rise. When compared with the past, the situation was far better now. The price of rice remained static in the market. The government was also planning to take steps to increase production which go a long way in checking price rise.

Rajender further said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was constantly reviewing the situation and had in fact conducted as many as 12 review meetings with the officials concerned and suggested various measures to control prices of food grains.

As a matter of fact the government on the advice of the Chief Minsiter had taken steps to supply onions at subsidised rates at a time when the prices skyrocketed, he added. To substantiate the “sincerity” of the government, the Finance Minister said criminal cases were booked against 2,500 black marketeers.
