Telugu Desam Party leaders and activists across the district celebrated the party’s 35th formation day on a grand scale on Tuesday. As part of the celebrations, leaders hoisted the party flag at various centres, party offices in the district, besides garlanding the party’s founder president and former Chief Minister late N T Rama Rao’s portrait. 

Nalgonda: Telugu Desam Party leaders and activists across the district celebrated the party’s 35th formation day on a grand scale on Tuesday. As part of the celebrations, leaders hoisted the party flag at various centres, party offices in the district, besides garlanding the party’s founder president and former Chief Minister late N T Rama Rao’s portrait.

It was on March 29, 1982 that TDP came into being in Hyderabad. District TDP president Bilya Naik participated in the celebrations at the party office in Nalgonda town along with TDP’s Nalgonda Assembly in-charge K Bhoopal Reddy and State leader Madagoni Srinvas Goud. After hoisting the party’s flag, he garlanded NTR’s portrait and cut the cake.

Addressing the gathering, he said, “TDP is the party of Telugu speaking people.” He described NTR as a great and noble leader who worked tirelessly for the upliftment of the poor till his last breath. a Goud said that several leaders from the backward classes, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and the downtrodden sections emerged as MLAs, MPs and powerful leaders with the encouragement of NTR, he added.

He said that the party would regain its lost glory with the support of people. Former Minister Uma Madhava Reddy took part in foundation day celebrations at Bhongir. Another State party leader Bollam Maliah Yadav also participated in the programme in Kodad. They recalled the valuable services rendered by NTR for the progress of the State as Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh. The party activists distributed fruits and bread slices to patients at various government hospitals in the district.
