​Nalgonda: After shutting down the main temple of Yadadri, the YTDA (Yadadri Temple Development Authority) had come to a conclusion on the stones to be used for the construction of temple on the lines of Tirumala. After conducting several tests on the collected stone samples from the districts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh at National Council for Cement and Buildings located in Hyderabad, YTDA narrowed down towards Gurijepalli Blackstone of Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh for the construction of temple.

Previously, YTDA Sthapati Ananda Sai directed the officials concerned to collect similar Blackstone that was used in the construction of famous Sri Kalahasti temple of Andhra Pradesh. In this connection, the YTDA officials collected stone samples from Nalgonda, Khammam and Warangal districts in Telangana and Guntur and Prakasam districts in Andhra Pradesh.

YTDA vice-chairman Raghava Reddy on Wednesday said that during the tests, Blackstone of Gurijepalli in Prakasam district stood top with best properties suitable for sculpting and cladding. He said Gurijepalli Blackstone would be used in the renovation of the main temple for the construction of Raja Gopuram, Inner Bailey, pillars, floor and inner walls.

He further told that the Rayagiri stone of Nalgonda district which created history in the making of famous Buddha statue would be used for constructions outside temple which include retaining walls and outer Bailey.
