Hyderabad: The next time you want to board a TSRTC bus, you would not need to travel all the way to MGBS or JBS but you may as well hop on to a bus from different designated points in the city.

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation, in an effort to reach out to people, has decided to display departure and arrival timings on stage poles at all the intermediate points.

All the buses would have timing boards showing the arrival/departure timing of all the services operating on the route. The services would also start and depart at important points in the district headquarters.

The corporation conducted a survey by interviewing 45,316 passengers who touched down at MGBS and JBS bus stands from different districts and Bengaluru and found that a majority of passengers find it difficult to reach their final destination and have to depend on autos and other transport.

In an effort to bring the RTC closer to the people, the corporation has decided to change the route course of some of the services in the city as well as in the important towns and cities in the state.

The survey showed that 40 per cent of the passengers who alighted at MGBS and travelled to Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar, BHEL and beyond took RTC buses and the remaining 60 per cent depended on auto rickshaws and personal vehicles.

The RTC is planning to capture this market. A senior official said that the RTC wants to reach out to as many people as possible and see that it provided last mile connectivity.

Officials say that people no longer need to spend on auto rickshaws and cabs as the buses would stop at different points and the timings would also be mentioned in the buses.
